PROTON & DRB-HICOM U CONCEPT CAR CHALLENGE 2018 PD3C

• 15 selected participants will be given a PROTON car by balloting process after PD3C 2018 pitching.
• Minimum TEN (10) team members, maximum FIFTEEN (15) team members consist of staffs and students including TWO (2) team leaders.
• Team members must come from various disciplines – design, engineering and business that represent the institutions.
• Only “Academic Institutions” from Malaysia can participate.
• The idea must be genuine, never been commercialized, showcased or presented to any events.
• The Organizer has the right to disqualify any entries found to be involved in any plagiarism before or after the final decision.
• The Organizer will not be responsible if any parties copy the design of the participants in the event. Participants own the responsibility to protect the Intellectual Property of their designs.
• The Organizer will not be responsible for any costs incurred, accidents, lost of documents or products and any safety issues before and after the event.
• The car given will be co-owned between the selected institutions and DRB-Hicom U during the event.
• The Organizer has the right to retrieve the car for non progress and non completion of the car before the final evaluation.
• The PROTON car given are not legal on the road.
• PROTON logo must be remained.
• The selected designs will be kept by the Organizer for documentation.
• The decision of the Organizer in any matter of judgement in this awards competition is final.
• Result will be announced via email and website.
• Entry fees will impose GST tax of 6%.

• Concept car proposed should be based on three segments:
  • MPV-Exora,
  • Passenger Car-Gen-2, Suprima, Saga BLM & Preve,
  • Compact – Iriz
• A series of concept design styling based on any TWO (2) car segments
• Paperwork submitted must be presented during Pitch of PD3C 2018
• Various views of concept: Quarter front, quarter rear, profile, top
• A paperwork of summary report in A3 paper format contain concept ideation, sketch, gantt chart and cost estimation must be submitted within 4 weeks after briefing by the Organizer.

*Institutions that are not selected in the PD3C, will be automatically entered for the  Proton-DRB-Hicom U Car Modelling Challenge (PDCMC)

• Slides of Pitch of PD3C 2018 – powerpoint, <20 slides & printed for judges (A3 Size)
• Presentation: 10minutes
• Question and Answer: 10minutes
• Presenter: Not more than TWO(2) person
• Concept car proposed should be based on three segments:

  • Compact – Iriz

• Content: A series of concept design styling based on any TWO (2) car segments.
• Slides must be prepared & send to secretariat before 5 March 2018.
• Schedule of pitch will be send via email after received A3 Paperwork.

• A monthly visit by the organizer for monitoring purpose (optional)

(A non-progress team may lead to disqualified and withdrawn of the   car given)

• All progress report must be written in a log book with pictures and explanations during the car development
• The judging criteria are:
  • Authenticity/Aesthetic/Creativity / (Design Concept Quality) – 30%
  • Design Poster & Presentation (Concept Ideation, Design Development, Verbal Presentation) – 20%
  • Stage of Design Development/Functional/Reliable & Usefulness of Innovation – 20%
  • Contribution Level & Industry/Society Contribution & Ergonomic Consideration – 20%

• Safe and practical to drive
• Minimum speed 20km/h
• Minimum approaching angle 16°
• Minimum departure angle 18°
• Total width not more than 1750 mm
• Front and back track not more than 1550mm
• Minimum ground clearance 130mm
• Maximum Length 5500mm
• Maximum Height 1900mm
• Based on MPV, Passenger Car and Compact segments

• Presentation (15minutes) and Q&A (10minutes)
• Participants need to prepare complete concept car from the PROTON car given
• Need to produce video of design processes and promotions.
• A0 Poster with complete ideation, influence or subject matter, application & technology that suit to the theme.

• Registration Fees for initial stages: RM250
• Competition Fees per team RM2250 (accommodations & meals)
