On 22nd of November 2018, Faculty of Business, DRB-HICOM University had organized a one-day talk and workshop session entitled as Industry 4.0 and Digital Transformation of the Automotive Industry. It was conducted by Dr. Muhammad Imran Sarwar, the Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Digital Next Solutions SDN BHD. The session was divided to two parts which were a talk session in the morning, and followed by a workshop session on the evening.
The morning session was about the journey on how to adopt in the Industry 4.0; Malaysia is expected to encounter a number of challenges related to the skill level of its work force. The skills which are important today will cease in the future and the work force will be expected to possess new skills in the domain of information technology: IoT, Cloud, data analytics, and other related skills. A higher percentage of the jobs will give importance to cognitive abilities and system skills over physical abilities while defining core work-related skill sets. During the morning talk session, the participants were exposed to these set of skills that are needed to adopt in the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
The aim of the workshop was to know the challenges i.e. the automotive industry will need to continue pushing toward automation and visibility across the supply chain. While neither of these alone is a silver bullet, they provide a useful framework for choosing the right strategies and tools to attain Industry 4.0 readiness. During the workshop, the participants learnt on how to identify and tackle the challenges that the university will face in the Industry Revolution 4.0.
DRB-HICOM University is ready to face the challenges in the Industry Revolution 4.0.
