SHAH ALAM, OCTOBER 15, 2018 – DRB-HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia once again took helm of this year’s Worldskills Malaysia Competition under the Youth Category (Automobile Technology), when Simon Wong Tian Bing bagged the Prime Minister Golden Hand Award 2018 and won RM10, 000.

Simon, who is currently in his fourth semester of Diploma in Automotive Technology, will represent Malaysia to compete in the upcoming 2018 Worldskills Competition in Russia.
Speaking after the final challenge, Simon recalled that the competition was intense but he managed to complete all the tasks duly within the stipulated time.
“I would like to thank my lecturer and coaches for guiding and supporting me throughout the pre-competition period. Endless hours of hands-on training, which includes problem solving, critical-thinking and creativity had really helped build the skills needed in completing the assigned tasks within the timeframe given,” said Simon.
Contestants were given three hours to complete six tasks comprising of body electrical, petrol engine tune, brake system, steering suspension, wheel alignment and automatic transmission; and engine mechanical.
The event was held at the Centre for Instructor & Advanced Skill Training (CIAST) in Shah Alam and Simon received the award from Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
